In 1965, Irena Onuferova was born Most in the Czech Republic. She lived in Prague and in Harrachov were she had several jobs during the communist regime. After the fall of the iron Curtain in 1989 she was free to travel through Europe, met her husband and settled in Utrecht in The Netherlands. In Utrecht she entered the local art community first as a model and later as painter and sculptor. Here she developed and refined her technique inspired by the traditional and realistic 17th century painters. After a four years period in Zurich Switzerland and Greifswald Germany, she settled in Nijmegen, close to the border with Germany where she refined her own style marked by romantic and realistic paintings. In Nijmegen she started as a home decoration painter. Irena Onuferova mainly works on assignment.
