Bio

Irena was born in Most in the Czech Republic in 1965. She studied chemistry during the communist regime. It was in 1989 when she discovered the free world an began to find her true artistic talent and distinctive vision on contemporary art. Working as a model and as a mentor for mentally disabled people she also got to know the local art scene and started painting and sculpture in Utrecht in The Netherlands. She gave birth to her three children, Tomas, Ira and Lilian and moved to Switzerland and Germany with her husband Henk van de Meent. Back in The Netherlands in 1999 she opened her own atelier in Millingen aan de Rijn and refined her painting skills in the local art scene with Paul van Ernich and Sasha di Mello. Since 2013 she moved with her family to a new atelier in Nijmegen. Here she discovered and developed the beauty  and joy of home decoration based on Italian and art deco motives.
